A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for any room in your home. However, before you begin the search for a professional painting contractor or painting company, it's up to you to choose the color. It's common to hear complaints that a color that looked great on the color chart, looks completely different on your wall. This article will help you avoid that surprise and end up with a color that you love. Once you find the perfect color you can contact your painting contractor to get the job done. You'll be left with a professionally painted room, done in a color that you adore.
Paint Charts
The first step is heading over to your local paint store or home improvement center. Look at the color charts. This could take some time, since there are hundreds of them. Grab each color that appeals to you for the room that you'll be painting. To keep things from being too overwhelming, try to keep your choices to the top fifteen or twenty. Follow the steps below once you get them home.
Tape the charts on the walls of the room that you intend to paint.
Throughout the next couple of days, walk into the room and look at the charts.
Take down any colors that no longer appeal to you, or that you are unsure about.
Narrow your selections down to five or fewer.
Samples
Head back to the home improvement store or paint store and buy samples of the colors that you're still considering. These cans are small and inexpensive. Just tell the associate that you want sample sized cans.
In the room that you intend to paint, take the sample paint colors and paint color swatches on each wall. Use each color on all four walls.
Once the paint dries go into the room at different times over the next couple of days to see how the color looks at different times of day.
Make sure that you check out the colors in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night. A color that you love in the morning, might not be as pleasing in the evening.
Decide
After a couple of days, you should be able to decide as to which color you like best.
The above is a fool proof way to choose the perfect paint color for any room.
